Dr. Ajay Kumar Tikoo visits Unani Hospital Shalteng, reviews Ayush healthcare services

Srinagar, Apr 22: Dr. Ajay Kumar Tikoo, Director Ayush, J&K, visited Government Unani Hospital (GUH) Shalteng, Srinagar, to review the functioning of the institution and assess the quality of Ayush healthcare services being provided to the public.

 

During the visit, Dr. Tikoo conducted a detailed inspection of various sections of the hospital, including OPD, IPD, pharmacy, Regimental therapy and diagnostic units.

 

He also interacted with patients to obtain first-hand feedback regarding the services and treatment being offered. Director Ayush appreciated the efforts of the hospital staff and expressed satisfaction over the patient footfall.

 

Dr. Tikoo held on-the-spot interactions with medical and paramedical staff and reviewed the availability of medicines, infrastructure, and overall patient care mechanisms.

 

He stressed the need for maintaining high standards of hygiene, ensuring uninterrupted availability of essential drugs, and strengthening service delivery for better patient outcomes.

 

Emphasizing the importance of traditional healing practices. Director Ayush stressed upon effective promotion of regimental therapies of Unani medicine as a key component of treatment.

 

He highlighted that such therapies can significantly enhance patient recovery and should be optimally utilized in hospital settings.

 

Further, Dr. Tikoo advised for the incorporation of Yoga interventions, particularly for managing stress-related diseases, to provide a holistic and integrated approach to Ayush healthcare.

 

Dr. Tikoo also emphasized adherence to standard treatment protocols, proper record maintenance, and improving overall efficiency in patient care services.

 

He reiterated the need to strengthen public awareness about the benefits of Unani medicine as an effective and affordable healthcare system.

 

Dr. Tikoo was accompanied by Dr. Sujad Hussain Shuja, Assistant Director Unani, and Dr. Mohammad Sultan Parray, In-charge Government Unani Hospital Shalteng, Srinagar, along with other officers and officials.

 

Later, a review meeting of Kashmir Division was held under the chairmanship of Dr. Ajay Kumar Tikoo at the meeting hall of the Directorate of Ayush, Srinagar.

 

The meeting was attended by all District Ayush Officers and District Nodal Officers of Ayush, wherein various aspects related to strengthening Ayush healthcare services, implementation of ongoing programmes, and improving service delivery across the division were discussed in detail.
